Finite Element Software for Piping and Pressure Vessels
Paulin Research Group specializes in developing analysis software for piping and
pressure vessels. The various tools are distinguished by the problem areas they
address and the ease of use.
PRG software considers several analysis domains in piping and pressure vessel
applications.
- Simplified linear elastic
- Buckling
- High temperature
- Mode shape and natural frequency
- Nonlinear materials
- Stress stiffening
- Heat transfer (conduction, convection, radiation)

FE/Pipe
FE/Pipe is the most mature and comprehensive product offered by Paulin
Research Group. The application areas are a superset of the PRO series with
additional functionality.

AxiPRO and NozzlePRO
AxiPRO and NozzlePRO simplify the application of finite element technologies by
defining a subset of problems by component and codifying many of the decisions that need to
be made in FE/Pipe based on component geometry and loading.
- Template Selection
- Meshing to Ensure Convergence
- Surface Definitions
- Boundary Conditions
- Modeling of flange nonlinearities (including gasket)
- Automated results plotting
Very simply, AxiPRO and NozzlePRO are designed to be easier to use than FE/Pipe
where FE/Pipe maintains the most exhaustive feature set. AxiPRO and NozzlePRO
call FE/Pipe in the background. AxiPRO and NozzlePRO licenses are included with
FE/Pipe.

MatPRO
MatPRO is an exhaustive database of ASME material properties that can be used with
PRG and third party software products. In addition to providing material properties
to PRG products, MatPRO also includes calculators for high temperature analysis,
fatigue allowable comparisons and fitness for service evaluations. A MatPRO license is
included with each FE/Pipe license.

MeshPRO
MeshPRO provides an interface between AutoCAD and FE/Pipe. It is particularly
useful when a geometry cannot be easily modeled with one of the FE/Pipe templates.
MeshPRO allows Axisymmetric, Shell and Brick models to be created and modified in
AutoCAD, and then analyzed in FE/Pipe. A MeshPRO license is included with each
FE/Pipe license.

PlasPlot
PlasPlot is a companion utility to FE/Pipe that periodically queries a running
nonlinear model and displays the current state of the analysis including the
convergence trend. PlasPlot is included with FE/Pipe.

StressPlot
StressPlot is a general ASME codes stress calculation utility. StressPlot can
be used to read raw nodal stress data and process the stresses to linearize
through the wall of any geometry per guidelines in WRC 429. StressPlot is
included with FE/Pipe.

FE107
FE107 is a load analysis program for openings in calculating local stresses
in spherical and cylindrical shells subject to external loadings. FE107
offers a subset of the analysis capabilities of NozzlePRO with a fraction of
the effort.

FESIF
FESIF is the fastest and most accurate method to calculate stress intensification
factors and flexibilities for piping components available.
