Program Objective

The ASME Section VIII Div. 2 Allowable External Pressure and compressive stresses software is designed to analyze pipe shell elements subjected to external pressure and external loads. The rules followed are from paragraphs 4.4.12(a-i) and every step result is given in the tabular results.

The main objective is for very quick calculations and allowable stresses and loads for a specific design pipe. In only a few second, allowable compressive stresses and allowable compressive loads will be given.

The user will be able to select the different types of supports for the tubes. All combinations of fixed and pinned supports are given.

Allowable compressive stresses and loads will be done for high D/t ratios (up to 2000). The limit for unprotected length depends on the type of supports, the geometry and the elastic modulus. There is a limiting factor in 2007 ASME Section VIII Div. 2 that will not allow any unprotected length to be entered. The software will determine whether the length is too large.
